Think of energy as the internal force or power that propels you forward at work. Note that energy is about optimization not maximization. That means you can have too much stimulus "powering" you up, and at that level you experience overload or potential burnout. That's why the highest number on energy is not a "good" number. Taking your energy pulse at work is a lot like taking your body pulse when you exercise. You want to get to an ideal number, not the highest number possible.
